Kieran Gibbs has had a pretty unfortunate spell at Emirates over the last few years. A quality player, the English international has struggled with injury problems – and when he has been fit, his competition at left-back has left him resigned to the bench for much of the season.
With Nacho Monreal ahead of him and performing well, many of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been expecting his time at the Emirates to be winding down – and now it would appear as though that time could come sooner, rather than later.
Reported from the Sun, new Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce is looking towards Gibbs as a potential January signing – with the Englishman’s contract expiring at the end of next season.
The Sun claims that Gibbs could be sold by Wenger, with the Frenchman set to assess whether he is needed this year – with his value set to plummet as the time on his contract continues to reduce.
At the same time Gibbs has not featured much for Arsenal lately, the quality that he possesses is clear for all to see. A quick, technical defender – 27 year old would likely start for most other sides in the Premier League, be it not for a quality player like Monreal placing ahead of him.
