That Arsenal needs a striker is something all Arsenal fans agree to. And it appears Wenger is working hard to ensure a striker is signed this summer hence the links to different strikers. However, Arsenal is set to lose out to bitter rivals Tottenham as £18m rated AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen is set to join Spurs. As always Arsenal was heavily linked with the AZ Alkmaar and Netherlands international forward and Arsenal fans will be wondering how Tottenham was able to pull this one over Arsenal.
In the past Arsenal have been linked to players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain all of which have gone on to guide their teams to win major trophies. And Janssen is highly tipped to be one of Europe’s most converted strikers in the future.
Arsenal’s desire for a new striker was highlighted by the public pursuit of the England and Leicester star Jamie Vardy. Wenger had activated the £20m release clause inserted into Vardy’s contract a few days before the start of Euro 2016, but the England international’s decision to stay with the Premier League champions came as a blow to the Frenchman.
Arsenal is in dire need of a striker and Janssen even though not seen as a perfect fit, but considered a good fit, simply because he was available on the cheap. Wenger had better well hope that the young Dutchman flops at Tottenham, as he would have Arsenal fans asking for his head if Janssen goes ahead to be a hit sensation in White hart lane.
