Rumours has it that Arsenal have opened talks with the agents of French man Alexandre Lacazette, and according to reports emanating from the Express and Daily Star, Liverpool have now joined the race to sign the French international striker.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a striker to replace unsettled Belgian striker, despite recently signing winger Sadio Mane from Anfield. Christian Benteke is reportedly looking set to join Crystal Palace, after failing to seal a starting shirt at the club. The Liverpool manager has identified Arsenal target Alexader Lacazette as a target; he is believed to be a long-term admirer of the striker.
It is believed that Lacazette’s first-team chances will likely be limited as his French team mate Olivier Giroud, who replaced him in the France squad for the on-going Euro 2016, is still the preferred choice at Arsenal. However, Giroud will turns 30 in September, and Lacazette, 25, may ponder taking the Arsenal striker’s place at the Emirate stadium, as well as in the French national team in the long-term. Besides, Arsenal’s consistent presence in the Uefa Champions League and the chance to work under his country man should entice Lacazette.
Should the Gunners miss out on Lacazette, they will be expected to sign Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku, or Gonzalo Higuain, but the Arsenal boss will hope to get Lacazette as he commands a transfer fee any Premier League can afford, as opposed to the other Arsenal targets.
