Arsenal have been heavily interested in signing Spanish international and Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata for quite some time.
Last month, we covered a report (via Spanish media) claiming that Chelsea are favorites to sign the 24-year-old star, who is rated around 60 million euros (£52million)
According to reports this month, the Gunners now seem favorite to sign the former Juventus striker, who is ready to leave Real Madrid and expects to join Arsenal next summer (Telegraph).
Unfortunately, the Spaniard has mainly warmed the bench under Zidane, who has selected him just 11 times in his starting XI.
As per the provided Telegraph link, Morata is a fan of Wenger and the French manager wants him to replace Olivier Giroud at Emirates. Is he good enough to replace Giroud?
The French international joined Arsenal from Montpellier in 2012 for a fee believed to be around £9.6 million (€12.4 million) and he has scored 65 goals in all appearances for the Gunners.
However, in the past few seasons, Olivier has proved to be the better goalscorer for North Londoners. Morata has netted 10 goals in 27 games for Real this season and he only netted 27 goals in 93 appearances for Juve. Adding to that, Morata does not have what it takes to bully defenders the way Giroud does and that trait is very significant in the Premier League.
In all fairness,Wenger must do whatever possible to keep Olivier Giroud at Emirates next summer. In your opinion, is Morata good enough to replace Giroud?
