Lyon’s coveted winger Rachid Ghezzal did not feature for the French side in their 3-0 whitewash of Nancy during the weekend, fuelling speculation of a move away from the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
However, Ghezzal who is being chased by a host of Premier League sides including Arsenal, Everton and West Ham did not play on Sunday because of a supposed groin injury.
Ghezzal, 24, is highly likely to leave Lyon before the summer transfer window slams shut, despite the French giants rejecting an £8.5m offer from Everton.
The pacy winger has just one year left on his current current and Lyon may be tempted to cash in on him. “He felt discomfort in his groin”, Lyon boss Bruno Genesio said after the defeat of Nancy.
Meanwhile, The Daily Stay cites L’Equipe who claim there could be more to Ghezzal’s absence, suggesting a move could be on the cards. They backed this with the fact that Genesio looked a tad embarrassed when quizzed about the Algerian international.
The 24-year old attacker has featured in 61 games for Lyon, bagging nine goals in the process.
Should Arsenal move fast in submitting their bid for Ghezzal, the Algerian would be a great addition to Arsene Wenger’s side who are looking to win the Premier League title which has eluded them since 2004/05.
Arsenal face Leicester next weekend and Arsene Wenger will be looking to lead his boys to glory against Ranieri’s side.
