When Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez injured his ankle during the final of the Copa America and he posted the pictures of his injured ankle on instagram, many Arsenal fans were scared that he could miss the first two months of the Premier League season. But according to reports, recent scans on the ankle has shown the Chilean will be fit for the start of the Premier League season.
This is certainly good news for Arsenal as the Gunners can’t afford to lose Sanchez for two months especially as Giroud is likely to be given an extended rest after getting to the finals of the European Championship.
With a striker signing not yet certain, Wenger could need to play Sanchez upfront unless Walcott really steps up which judging by his performance in the previous seasons is unlikely. Sanchez has recently been a subject of two rejected bids from Juventus which goes to show that Wenger sees the former Barca target as instrumental to the success of his Arsenal team.
However, should Wenger be able to sign a striker and maybe another wing forward, we can afford to give Sanchez the much needed extended break. He has not had a proper rest in three years.
