Having signed Granit Xhaka, Arsenal’s midfield on paper looks crowded but knowing Arsenal, we are certainly going to have one injury crisis to the other next season. Hence it is not a surprise we continue to get linked with midfielders.
Today, according to report from talkSPORT, Blaise Matuidi is set leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer in a £22m deal and Arsenal are said to be among top clubs the French would be happy to join.
In 2010, the France international move from Saint-Etienne to PSG and ever since he has become of the best midfielders in the French league if not in world football.
Unfortunately with clubs like PSG who seem to have more money than brain, you can lose your spot in the first team or get sold when another Gem is found, a gem who is not necessarily better. This is exactly the case with Matuidi. Only this weekend Polish star Grzegorz Krychowiak signed for the Parc des Princes club and it has been suggested that the former Sevilla midfielder will be taking the place of Matuidi in the first team.
This means the Frenchman is now surplus to requirement and could be forced out of the club. Already, reports claim he will be made available for as little as £22m with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United said to be interested in signing him.
The player himself has in the past confirmed he will like to test himself in the English Premier League and with doubts remaining as to where Ramsey will be playing next season, Arsenal moving for Matuidi will make perfect sense.
He will be a perfect partner for Xhaka or Elneny in our midfield with Coquelin likely to be a bench warmer. However, should we want to stand a chance og signing him, we must move very fast or risk losing him to our rivals who have more money and are never afraid to spend it.
With Cazorla almost 32 and likely to leave any time soon, Matuidi could be a perfect replacement for him.
