Having completed the signing of Granit Xhaka and Takuma Asano, Arsenal are on the verge of completing yet another major transfer deal. According to reports, Club officials from Besiktas are on their way to the City of London UK to hold talks with the Gunners over a proposed transfer deal. Arsenal are said to have accepted the Turkish’s bid but need to agree on how the transfer fee is to be paid.
Arsenal started what was expected to be a busy summer with the capturing of Switzerland international striker Granit Xhaka earlier in May, but only the signing of J-league youngster Takuma Asano has since been confirmed.
Reports emanating states that Arsene Wenger is closing in on a transfer deal which would see him sell one of his first team stars.
Besiktas’ agents are expected to fly to London this week with hopes of sealing an agreement with the Gunners over the sale of David Ospina, according to rumours from the Turkish media.
Recently, Beskitas president Fikret Orman disclosed that talks had been held with Arsenal who are asking for more than the £3m offer.
“Arsenal wants a lot for him [Ospina] so we may have to look for alternatives,” Orman said. “I do want Ospina and we are going to get a foreign keeper.”
Ospina, 27, whose contract expires in the summer of 2019, is currently on vacation after returning from international duty with his Nation Colombia at Copa America.
Turkish side Besiktas made an approach for Colombian international Ospina during the winter transfer window but due to the Gunners lack of an experienced back-up for former Chelsea goalie Petr Cech saw the move declined.
