Arsene Wenger is reportedly planning a sensational move for Germany international midfielder and Borussia Dortmund ace Marco Reus.
The Arsenal boss is set to break his transfer record to ensure he doesn’t get caught unaware by Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s expected buying spree this summer.
According to Daily Star Sunday, Reus is part of Wengers plans of a £250m in response Jose and Pep making Manchester the spending capital of football.
Germany international midfielder has been given a £60m price-tag by his club current club, Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
The German international missed this Euros with a groin injury, and is still rated as one of football’s best winger and would make Arsene Wengers first team anytime.
Individually, the german carried Borussia Gladbach in 2011-12, but the quality around him was limited and the player’s efforts only led to a fourth-placed finish. That was a good success, but a spot in the Champions League qualifiers was probably the ceiling for the team.
After moving to Dortmund, Reus was brilliant in 2012-13 and 2013-14 as he played a leading role alongside striker Robert Lewandowski. But Bayern again stood between him and glory as they won back-to-back bundesliga doubles.
Last season was different, in that Reus was not even the second-best attacker at the Signal Iduna Park, he wasn’t at his fittest and despite his good tallies of goals and assists, he was neither as prolific nor decisive as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
