French outlet Le 10 Sport are reporting that Arsenal have only been accredited with an interest in Olympique Lyonnais’s Rachid Ghezzal and have not made a formal offer for the attacker.
Ghezzal’s contract at Lyon is reportedly set to run out this year and the player is unwilling to pen an extension and as such, the Algerian international has been linked with a move away from Bruno Génésio’s side this summer – with Everton boss Ronald Koeman keenly interested.
Arsenal are also said to be keeping tabs on Ghezzal and they believe the North African attacking midfielder could come cheap given that he will be available for free next summer.
Le Sport’s report suggests Arsenal are yet to make an offer for Ghezzal, but they will continue to monitor his situation at Lyon.
The Gunners’ priority is signing a defender and possibly a striker before August 31 and per reports, La Liga stars Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez – both defenders and strikers – are on their way to the Emirates.
Valencia’s Mustafi will suitably fill the void left opened at the rearguard, following long-term injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista. On the other hand, Perez of Deportivo La Coruna will rival Olivier Giroud for a starting spot in Arsenal’s attack.
