The latest on the transfer saga involving Arsenal and Lyon for star striker Alexandre Lacazette will definitely send cold shivers down the spine of Arsenal fans.
The story has appeared to become one of the most reported transfer of this summer and it seems it would not be changing before the window is slammed shut.
After Arsenal’s initial bid for the striker was made public by Lyon, the Gunners’ interest seems to have simmered down as they cast their net elsewhere – although speculation of a move is still rife in the media. And after bagging a hat-trick in Lyon’s 3-0 opening Ligue 1 defeat of Nancy last weekend, Lacazette further fuelled rumours by saying if a club comes with an offer that is irresistible, he would not refuse.
However, Lyon have now confirmed Lacazette will not be leaving, for the umpteenth time. Boss Bruno Genesio said [per Get French Football]: “There is no uncertainty with regards to Alexandre Lacazette. He needs to feel loved. He is & he will stay at Lyon.”
When Arsenal Wenger was also asked about the player during his Thursday pre-match press conference, he refused to comment on individual players.
“We do not talk about individual players”, Wenger said.
