Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation is the major talking point atArsenal right now after talks over a new deal dramatically collapsed last month.
Negotiations have been ongoing for months between the club and Ramsey’s representative and an agreement was believed to be imminent.
As little as two weeks ago, but parties thought that Ramsey would sign a four-year deal, but Arsenal suddenly decided to withdraw the offer, effectively telling the Wales international he was free to leave.
Arsenal will now listen to offers for Ramsey in January, but the midfielder has confirmed he will wait until the summer and leave on what would be a very lucrative free transfer.
Why Arsenal have decided to withdraw the offer for Ramsey after all be securing the deal following months of negotiations remains unclear, with head coach Unai Emery consistently saying that the situation is between the club and the player.
But it could be that comments made by Raul Sanllehi at a recent meeting with the club’s main fan groups paint a bit of a telling picture.
The negotiations between Arsenal and Ramsey have been led by chief executive Ivan Gazidis along with contract negotiator Huss Fahmy.
