Big changes are needed up and down the field this summer, and in particular, the defence is in need of a rebuild.
Fortunately, they’re reportedly working to that end, with the Express reporting that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is a key target this summer. The big Senegalese centre-half, who is rated at £45 million by Transfer Markt, has impressed this season, and he represents exactly the sort of player that the Gunners should be after.
Indeed, he’d be a fantastic fit in the heart of the Arsenal defence, and there’s even an argument to suggest that he would be the perfect replacement for Frenchman Laurent Koscielny at the back.
Koscielny, of course, is set for a long-term injury layoff after suffering yet another Achilles setback, and it’s clear that injuries are beginning to take their toll on him. Not to mention, his form this season has clearly dropped off significantly.
He’s no longer the unbreakable, relentless defender that he once was – and that has been reflected in the poor performance of the Gunners at the back.
