Arsenal are weighing up their options regarding the transfer of a centre-back, with the summer transfer window just weeks away from slamming shut.
According to BBC’s David Ornstein, Arsenal are now considering Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer, as they are yet to reach a fee for Valencias Shkodran Mustafi – although the Germany international is keen on a move to the Emirates.
Fenerbahces Kjaer, 27, moved to the Turkish top flight last summer and the Denmark international defender is a pivotal player in the team. He has made over 47 appearances and plays 90minutes in almost every game for the Turkish giants.
While at Lille, Kjaer was also a mainstay in theteam, reliable and not susceptible to injury. The Danish ace is an aerial threat, good in set pieces and likes to play the Arsenal way – keeping the ball on the ground.
Ornstein tweeted via his Twitter account [bbcsport_david] : & ;Arsenal yet to agree fee for Mustafi. #AFCconsidering Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer as alternatives but Mustafi remains priority keen to join. However, it is unlikely that Arsenal will sign Kjaer as Arsene Wenger reported target is Mustafi.T
