BBC: Matteo Guendouzi will sign another four years contract in January

The latest Arsenal news has it that ARSENAL youngster Matteo Guendouzi has hailed boss Unai Emery for handing him his breakthrough chance in the Premier League.

Guendouzi joined the Gunners during the summer transfer window in a reported £7million move from Ligue 2 side Lorient.

The young midfielder as quickly established himself in Emery’s squad, making nine appearances in all competitions so far this term.

He scored his first goal for the club durnig their 3-0 Europa League win over Qarabag last week.

And during an interview with fellow Frenchman and former Arsenal ace Jeremie Aliadiere, Guendouzi spoke highly of his new boss since he arrived at the club earlier this summer.

“He’s shown plenty of confidence in me since I arrived here,” Guendouzi said.

“Not any coach would through a 19-year-old youngster into Premier League action, particularly at a club like Arsenal.

“I’m very grateful to him for that. He’s making me work hard and has already helped me improve considerably since I arrived.

“I could feel that even in the first few training sessions over my first few weeks and months.

“He’s a very good coach. That goes for his staff as well and they all work well together.

“We have everything in place to progress both individually and collectively.

“I’m very please to have Unai Emery as my coach. I’m convinced I’ll be able to make progress under him by working hard, which is the most important thing for me.

“We mustn’t forget that I’m still a young player and I still have plenty of hard work to do.

“I think I can make big progress under a coach like him. He’s a very good coach with very good staff.”

And Arsenal supporters were quick to laud Guendouzi for his positive comments.

“The kid has huge potential, his running with ball, his passing are superb, I hope he will keep working hard, remain humble and as confident on the pitch as he is now, he can be a big star,” one fan wrote. “Kudos to Emery to believe in him and to be brave enough to put him right in the senior team.”

“Great attitude for a young lad, hungry, wants to win, exactly what we need at the club, I hope he stays around for many many seasons top talent,” another supporter commented.

A third fan said: “The passion is clearly visible. That’s what matters most. Hope he stays at Arsenal for years to come. Top bloke. Top player!”

“He’s going to be a top top player his head is in the perfect spot compared to other youngsters,” a fourth fan wrote.
