According to German tabloids, North London club Arsenal has won the race to secure the signing of Serbian international defender Neven Subotic from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Arsenal has been heavily linked with top attacking players all summer, but the Arsenal manger is set to surprise Arsenal fans with the imminent signing of Serbia International defender Neven Subotic.
German media outlet Express report that the Emirate club is on the verge of signing the Dortmund star defender as repots have it that the Bundesliga club have accepted Arsenal’s bid believed to be around £12m.
Should Arsenal eventually complete this signing, Subotic will be expected to be a direct replacement for ageing Germany international central defender Per Mertesacker who has just a year left in his current contract at the North London club
Last week, German paper Bild reported that Subotic was permitted to leave training on Friday to discuss transfer terms with suitors, in a bid to move away from Dortmund.
The same publication also indicated that the Gunners are now in pole position to sign the Serbian, who moved joined Dortmund in 2008 in a £ 3.8 million deal.
