One of the most conspicuous transfer tussle of the summer could be set for an end with the window also eleven days away from slamming shut.
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is set to pen a new deal with the San Siro giants. Icardi’s agent wife, Wanda Nara’s claims in the press have been somewhat pointing to the fact that the striker only wanted to use the interested clubs as a stepping stone to a new, improved contract at Inter. Now, it appears the player’s wish has been granted.
Although Spanish source Fichajes understands it is the arrival of new boss Frank de Boer that has made Icardi consider remaining at the club, but that is doubtful as it seems there wasn’t really a situation. Icardi only wanted an improved contract extension.
There are now claims in the Italian media that Inter have tabled a mouth-watering offer for Icardi, but there is still a stumbling block. The Argentine’s agent want €6m for his client, while Inter have offered only €5m.
Nothing is official yet as Icardi has not signed the deal and there has been no announcement from all involved parties. However, it is highly likely Arsenal will not be signing Icardi before the transfer window is closed.
