Finally, Arsene Wenger will be free from flaks, at least, regarding transfers. And surely, Arsenal faithful will be elated with this news. The Gunners are on the verge of sealing a stunning double deal for La Liga stars Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, according to reports.
Arsenal’s perseverance and determination have finally paid off as they have agreed a £35m fee with Valencia for the transfer of defender Mustafi, while Deportivo la Coruna have also accepted the Gunners’ £17m offer for Perez. The transfer of the two players will, therefore, take Arsenal’s summer spending close to £100m.
Mustafi and Perez will follow the likes of Granit Xhaka [£34m], Rob Holding [£2m], Kelechi Nwakali [£3m] and Takuma Asano [£800,000] into the club.
The Gunners have been locked in negotiations with Valencia for the transfer of Mustafi for quite a while, with both sides haggling over the fee for the German centre-back and now, it appears Wenger has finally got his man. Perez was also courted by Everton, but Arsenal seem to have made the Spanish striker the one they are looking for this summer.
Having been snubbed by Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon this summer, Wenger has finally secured a striker signing this summer and Perez seems a good buy at £17m, as he had an incredible goal haul last term.
The Arsenal manager will hold a press conference at 9am this morning and it is believed the 66-year old French will want to talk about his pending twin deal.
