Arsenal’s purported transfer for Leicester ace Riyad Mahrez seems to be off as player reveals the top three clubs he would find it difficult rejecting.
While stating his desire to still remain in the English Premier League, Mahrez has subtly named Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich as the sides he is highly unlikely to reject if they come calling for his signature.
Although this is not to say the transfer to Arsenal could fail to materialise, for now, however, it seems to be on hold. Mahrez, 26, also told France Football that he has not been in any contact with Chelsea after the winger was seen on a number of occasions at the same hotel as the Blues. That is a coincidence, at least for now.
Mahrez appeared to dent Arsenal’s hope of landing him when he said: “[The Premier League] is a super league and I would like to stay here as long as possible.
“Now, there are two or three clubs in the world that if they come for me, it definitely makes you think if you understand what I am saying”, the former Le Havre attacker added.
However, the Gunners still have a glimmer of hope of signing Mahrez as he has admitted he wants to remain in the Premier League – not actually saying Leicester – although it appears like that is where he will be for this season. Arsenal will now hope none of the aforementioned top three European sides come for Mahrez.
