According to latest reports, North London club Arsenal is hoping to complete a deal for one of Italian Serie A’s star defenders.
Arsene Wengers Arsenal’s below-par defensive statistics saw the Emirate club loose out in the race for the English Premier League title to surprise champions Leicester City last season. This has made Arsene Wenger getting busy in the transfer market to make a move for a new defender.
The North Londoners are one of many clubs who have enquired about the possibility of securing the services of the Inter Milan captain Jeison Murillo as the Serie A club continues to demand a transfer fee of about $20.4 million for the Argentine defender, according to Sky Italia.
According to reports, the Inter Milan centre-back has spoken to representatives from the Emirate club, despite the fact that the Gunners are yet to table to a formal deal with Inter Milan.
The 24-year-old defender, who has just returned from Copa America duty with his nation Colombia alongside Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, is thought to have four more years remaining on his current Inter contract.
Reports indicate the Colombian is being monitored by Premier League rivals including Manchester United and Chelsea.
