According to reports, the Gunners have handed a trial to Dutch keeper Guy Smit, who is out of contract at Dutch club NEC Nimjegen.
According to a report in The Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is taking young Dutch goal tender Guy Smit of Eredivise club on a trial.
The 20 year old goal keeper has attracted attention from couple of clubs in the championship. Notwithstanding, it is the Arsenal boss that he is determined to impress. He said:
The Gunners have 3 full time international keepers, something very few top English clubs can boast about. Petr Cech, Ospina and Szczesny have all been first choice short keepers for their respective national sides. It’s a serious competition at the goal post between the goal keepers and Wojiech Szczesny is likely to go back to Roma.
Very little is known about the goal keepers qualities, especially to Arsenal fans. He was not a first choice keeper for the Eredivisie side, and it is unlikely he will even be fourth choice keeper at Arsenal.
