After missing on so many targets already this summer, Arsenal are desperately looking to a top striker to sign this summer transfer window.
The Gunners have once again suffered another transfer blow, as Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has now opted to stay put in Brazil, in order to gain more experience before moving abroad. The player will reported sign a new 4 years contract with the Brazilian clubside which will see him earn as much as £80,000 a week, his club’s best ever.
Barbosa, 19, is a highly rated striker who has been given a nickname ‘Gabigol, having scored 600 goals for his Brazilian club Santos at youth levels.
Report has it that the striker has a £42 Million release clause in his contract which he signed in 2014 and runs out in 2019, and there is no discussion of a new deal at present despite several offers from Europe.
It remains unclear whether Wenger would rather go without a striker, or eventually sign one before the window closes.
It has to be stressed that Arsenal and Arsene Wenger need to show more seriousness in the transfer market if they want to sign a new striker to keep Giroud on his toes next season.
