Almost all the known centre-backs in Europe seem to have been linked with a move to Arsenal and, HITC have managed to add to the growing list by saying the Gunners are plotting a move for Newcastle’s Chancel Mbemba.
And this rumour would surely has made the Newcastle supporters frown at Arséne Wenger’s interest in their valuable defender. Or could it be the HITC reporter trying to show us a tad creativity? Nevertheless, it appears Wenger has seen something Interesting about Mbemba.
The 22-year old is a hotly-tipped defender and his versatility ensures he can operate in central defence as well as the right back position. Therefore, he can be a suitable back-up for Hector Bellerin – with Mathieu Debuchy reportedly on his way out of the Emirates. That could be what the Arsenal boss saw in Mbemba.
The Newcastle defender was picked up from Anderlecht last summer for £8m and the above named source claim Mbemba is currently nursing an ankle injury would sell for anything above £15m.
Meanwhile, The Mag – a Newcastle United – have a contrary report. They say Mbemba has been playing for his club and that HITC’s claims are simply hilarious as the defender has played three times for The Magpies this term, with HITC claiming Mbemba has yet to feature, although they seem to have corrected their error.
Looking at the HITC claim, their report suggests the word “understands” which most media outlet use when their source is not reliable. Therefore, Arsenal’s link with Mbemba seems untrue.
