Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, has sent a message to his brother after the Gunners were placed in the same Champions League group as his sibling’s club, Basel.
The North Londoners were pitted against Xhaka’s former side Basel in Thursday’s draw in Monaco, alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Bulgarian side Ludogorets in Group A. Now, Xhaka is relishing the prospect of going head-to-head with his brother in the CL group stage.
Xhaka, 23, moved to Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach for £34m earlier on in the summer prior to the European Championships in France. The Switzerland international had scored two goals in over 60 appearances for Basel before he was picked up by Monchengladbach in 2012.
However, Xhaka’s brother, Taulant Xhaka currently features for Basel having rose through the ranks at the Swiss outfit.
Now, Granit can’t 1ait to face his defender brother and his former employers in the Champions League group stage. The Arsenal midfielder posted a photo on his Instagram page with the caption below:
“What should I say about this #UCL draw. After playing against my own blood @Taulant Xhaka in the @Euro2016, we will probably face each other again in the UCL. It’s even more special to me that this will be in Basel against my former club. But I hope we will both make it to the #UCL round of last 16. 👊 ⚽ #brother #Gunnergranit29 #TX34 #Specialgames #Arsenal.”
