There are indications Arsenal will finally be signing one of their long-term targets in Julian Draxler before August 31.
Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Wolfsburg are willing to accept Arsenal’s bid of £41.9m for their want-away star and, this news will be so hard for the Gunners’ supporters not to get excited upon hearing.
To begin with, the Italian media outlet carry the story as an exclusive and they always have information about agents.
Also, Draxler has made it known to Wolfsburg that he wants to leave as the Bundesliga side will not be playing Champions League football this season and, Arsenal have been interested in him for a while now – although the German has said he was not ready to make a move out of the Bundesliga. Could it be that Draxler is now ready for a move abroad.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger needs to make a major statement of intent and luring Draxler to the Emirates would certainly do. Albeit that is not a position the Gunners really need to strengthen this summer, the addition of the 2014 World Cup winner into the squad will calm Arsenal faithful a bit and the agitation could simmer down.
Meanwhile, a major concern is the reported offer which is relatively lower than Draxler’s release clause which will be relevant next summer. It is left to be seen if Wolfsburg will accept that.
