Arséne Wenger has confirmed Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have joined Arsenal, with an official announcement of the arrivals of the two players expected imminently.
The Arsenal manager, who is not expecting any more arrivals at the club before the transfer deadline, said the only thing remaining is for paperworks to be finalised.
The Gunners thumped Watford 3-1 on Saturday and have now been reinforced with the addition of Mustafi – who will plug the leaky hole in defence – and Perez, who is expected to rival Olivier Giroud for a starting position in the team.
Wenger also been lambasted on several occasions by the Gunners faithful for his side’s minimal transfer activity and, the French boss has now shamed critics.
“We have bought two players, Mustafi and Perez”, the 66-year old said after his side’s dominant display against Watford.
“Now we can integrate them into the squad.
“We have to finish the paperwork. It looks as though it will be announced at the beginning of the week.
“We had to work very hard to get signings done. We have not got any plans for anyone else now.”
Mustafi arrives from Valencia and the Germany international is expected to go straight into the team to partner Laurent Koscielny in Arsenal’s rearguard. Perez, on the other hand, could still have to fight Giroud for a spot.
