Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley believes it’s time for Arsenal fans to protest against Arsene Wenger in a bid force a change of management at the north London club.
The long-serving Frenchman watched on from the stands, serving the third game of his four-match touchline ban, powerless as Arsenal were battered 3-1 by Chelsea and fell a distant 12 points behind the runaway leaders of the Premier League.
Wenger’s contract is due to expire in the summer but reports suggest there is a fresh two-year deal ready and waiting for him to sign should he wish to extend his 20-year reign and Burley feels there is no way Arsenal fans should allow that to happen without voicing their significant concerns.
He told ESPN: ‘These supporters really have to stamp their feet and shout and be heard in terms of the manager.
‘This can’t go on they are 12 points behind Chelsea and out the title race, not that I ever felt they were in it going into this match.
‘They will probably go out to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and it’s same old same old. It was a total shambles.’
