The latest report that Arséne Wenger has somewhat confirmed the Gunners’ swoop for Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez will certainly throw Arsenal fans into delirium.
Wenger has received most of the flaks for Arsenal’s lack of activity in the transfer market, but the Arsenal manager is set to silence critics, as he has confirmed the move for the aforementioned defender and striker.
“We are working on the deals”, Wenger told the press when asked about the deals during his pre-Watford match conference earlier today.
“Will we sign anyone before the window closes? I’m 99 per cent confident.”
If nothing has really sent the Arsenal supporters into a frenzy for a while now, the news of the impending transfer of Mustafi and Perez will certainly excite them.
For the Gunners’ injury-ravaged defence, Mustafi’s addition is sure to help plug the leaky holes, while Perez’s addition means Olivier Giroud finally has a suitable rival for the Arsenal striker position.
Mustafi was a former Everton youth player, but the Germany international failed to make the cut into the Toffees’ first team.
Perez, 27, and Mustafi, 24, are expected in London this afternoon, with BBC’s David Ornstein saying they are due for medicals this afternoon.
