Stories changed, indeed. Arséne Wenger has gone from zero to hero within days! Arsenal supporters have been thrown into frenzy within 24 hours, with claims Shkodran Mustafi has also followed Lucas Perez to undergo medical tests at the Emirates.
One of the longest-drawn transfer saga of the summer seems to have ended, as Arsenal will finally be getting their man in Mustafi. Just like Manchester United clinched Paul Pogba after series of twists and turns, the Gunners have a new defender, too.
The Daily Star quote Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli that Mustafi, like Perez, has completed his medicals at Arsenal and the twin deal could be officially announced on Saturday.
In the same vein, Sky Sports’ Marc Behrenbeck confirms Mustafi’s medical will actually take place this morning [Saturday] and that the Germany international will sign a five-year deal once all formalities have concluded.
Behrenbeck [@Sky_Marc] tweeted: “Update: #mustafi has medical @Arsenal now. Will sign 5-year contract later on. Deal will be official today. @valenciacf @SkySportsNewsHD Info.”
Arsenal have managed to bring in Granit Xhaka as the club’s only major signing so far this term and now, Mustafi and Lucas’ impending arrivals will boost the team and help shore up the defence and striking departments respectively.
Arsenal travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford at 3pm today and the Gunners will be hoping to come out of the encounter with victory.
