Arsene Wenger insists that he is feeling positive that Alexis Sanchez will stay at Arsenal beyond the summer.
Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is feeling “positive” that Alexis Sanchez will stay at Arsenal beyond the summer transfer window.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after he entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates.
Sanchez is yet to speak out about his future and confirm his decision, but there is still a chance Arsenal could refuse to sell him this summer, although that would open up the risk of losing the 28-year-old on a free transfer next year.
However, Arsenal boss Wenger seems to be feeling up beat about Sanchez’s situation and is expecting to see the attacker stay at The Emirates.
Asked if he felt Sanchez would stay, Wenger told a news conference in Sydney on Saturday: “Of course.
“There is not a lot to resolve at the moment with the player.
“I have spoken through text [message] and it was very positive. My thoughts are always positive.”
Arsenal have begun to bolster their squad ahead of next season, bringing in left-back Sead Kolasinac and striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners will have to make do without Champions League football next season after they finished fifth in the Premier League table last term.
