Arsenal have already suffered their first injury blow heading into the new campaign.
The Gunners were troubled by injuries during the 2016/17 campaign as their title challenge collapsed by late January.
And just over a month before the opening game of the new campaign against Leicester City next month, Joel Campbell has succumbed to an injury.
The 25-year-old was on duty with Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament where he suffered a severe knee injury in their 1-1 draw against Canada.
Campbell, whose future at the Emirates stadium is in real jeopardy, is now expected to miss nearly six months of action.
“It is sad and difficult to have to leave the national team,” the forward said
“I gave it everything, as I always do. Now I have to think about my recovery to come back stronger than ever.”
