Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Olivier Giroud picked up an ankle injury in the 4-0 win over Swansea but admits he has no idea how severe the problem is yet.
The France international was on target yet again for the Gunners, grabbing the opener before the visitors went on to secure a handsome win.
Giroud looked to be struggling in the first half before playing on but was eventually replaced on the hour by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Speaking after the game Wenger confirmed the injury and said Giroud will now have the injury checked out by the medical team.
“He has an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is,” he said via the official Arsenal website.
“But he is being assessed by the doctor. I don’t know, but he’s limping quite a lot and so I hope it’s not too bad.”
Giroud’s injury comes at a particularly bad time for the striker, who is in sparkling form with 11 goals in his last nine starts. While Danny Welbeck was given another outing as a substitute the Gunners will be hoping Giroud’s injury is not too serious and he is fit to face Burnley on Sunday
