Arsenal are weighing up their options regarding the transfer of a centre-back, with the summer transfer window just weeks away from slamming shut.
According to BBC& David Ornstein, Arsenal are now considering Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer, as they are yet to reach a fee for Valencia & Shkodran Mustafi – although the Germany international is keen on a move to the Emirates.
Fenerbahce& Kjaer, 27, moved to the Turkish top flight last summer and the Denmark international defender is a pivotal player in the team. He has made over 47 appearances and plays 90 minutes in almost every game for the Turkish giants. While at Lille, Kjaer was also a mainstay in the team, reliable and not susceptible to injury. The Danish ace is an aerial threat, good in set pieces and likes to play the Arsenal way – keeping the ball on the ground.
Ornstein tweeted via his Twitter account [bbcsport_david] : Arsenal yet to agree fee for Mustafi. #AFC considering Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer as alternatives but Mustafi remains priority & keen to join. However, it is unlikely that Arsenal will sign Kjaer as Arsene Wenger's reported target is Mustafi.T
