Arsenal are said to be interested in their fierce rivals star Toby Alderwelreld, according to the Daily Star.
Alderwelreld, has been very impressive for the Spurs since his arrival from Atletico Madrid back in 2015 after a loan spell with Southampton, is currently running on his last year on contract with the Spurs with no extension talks being agreed.
The club have the option of extending the contract by a further twelve months, but run the risk of losing him for just £20 million at the end of next season.
This situation has led to speculations that he would be allowed to leave this summer, Europe giants Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are now monitoring the situation with a bidding war set to occur.
The Belgian defender seems to be interested in leaving the club with Mauricio Pochettino leaving him out of the side of recent.
Arsenal have the odds well against them in this battle though, as Daniel Levy is unlikely to agree to sell to his arch rivals, and the Gunners failure to qualify for the Champions league makes their chances of wooing 29-year-old even slimmer.
Should the Red Londoners somehow manage to pull this one off, it’ll be reminiscent to the deal that saw Sol Campbell leave Tottenham for Arsenal in 2001.
