Barcelona confirmed on Sunday on Twitter that the player had been given permission to undergo a medical with the Giallorossi.
When the 30-year-old joined Barca from Arsenal in summer 2014, Vice –President Jordi Mestre said the deal included €10 million up front, €5 million in variables and €3.8 million more should the team win two Champions League trophies in the next five years.
The Belgium international played only 21 games in all competitions in the two seasons after his arrival as he struggled with muscle injuries, and Barcelona will make a big saving by letting him to go to Roma.
