This is the way a player should behave if he wants a move
Mahrez wants out of Leicester but maintained a professional attitude right through as Alexis Sanchez watched on
his is the way a player should behave if he wants a move.
Riyad Mahrez has made it clear he feels his future is away from Leicester – at AS Roma preferably – but not a dummy in sight as the Algeria international gave Arsenal plenty of headaches.
His commitment was perfect illustrated between the 53 and 56 minutes.
First he released Jamie Vardy with an exquisite through ball and it needed a Tony Adams-like tackle from Petr Cech to deny the Leicester front man.
In the 55 minute Cech needed to be at his most agile to tip away a 20-yard effort from Mahrez.
But Mahrez took the corner he had earned and put it on the head of Vardy and it was 3-2 to Leicester.
In the stands watching was Alexis Sanchez. Poor old Alexis has not had too much luck with his health of late.
First it was a bout of flu that delayed his return to pre-season training and now “a slight abdominal strain” has made him a spectator for the next two weeks.
It makes you wonder if he would pass a medical at the Etihad if the opportunity arose.
Mahrez, on the other hand, would sail past his in the Italian capital.
