Arsenal have moved closer to the re-purchase and sale of Brazilian winger Wellington Silva, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper, quoted in a report by Sport Witness, claims that a deal should be done “imminently”.

Arsenal sold Silva to Fluminese with a clause in his contract that meant Arsenal had a first right of refusal if the player left the club.

Now, with Bordeaux looking to buy, Arsenal plan to activate this clause, buy the player back for the agreed £3.1m and sell him on for £4.4m, for a quick profit of £1.3m. Talks have apparently been going on for weeks, but they’re now close to their conclusion, which is good news for Arsenal and the player.

With all the work permit issues and loans that Wellington Silva had when he joined the Gunners from Fluminese the first time back in 2010, it’s good that he seems to have managed to get a permanent move to make use of that permit. Even if he hasn’t managed to shake Arsenal off quite yet.
