If reports from the Daily Mail are anything to go by, German international Julian Draxler has requested to leave Wolfsburg. This will put Wenger in red alert as he is a long-time admirer of the player and is also on the lookout for a striker.
Draxler has been consistently linked with Arsenal in every transfer window since his days in Schalke. The 22-year old world cup winner is currently on vacation after his side was knocked out of the Euros in the semi-finals by host France. Wenger tried to sign Draxler just before he complete.
Draxler’s team Wolfsburg’s endured a poor season last year, which means that they’ll be without European football next season, which has led to talk of their star players such as Draxler and Andre Schurrle leaving the club. It is hard to imagine German internationals Draxler and Schurrle missing out on European football next season and both stars look set to leverage on this and leave for other clubs.
Draxler who plays in a supportive role just behind the main striker could join forces with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez to improve Arsenal’s attacking threat next season
Simon Jones of the Daily mail believes Wolfsburg have begun to plan for life without one or both of their star players lining up Juventus Simone Zaza as a replacement.
