Judging by the amount of rumours in the press in regards to Arsenal signing one player to the other and the Online Soccer odds sites claiming Arsenal are favorites for one player to the other, it is becoming very obvious that Wenger intends to be very active in the transfer window next season. And rightly so, if Arsenal had conducted the right business in the transfer window last summer, we will probably have won the league.
The error of last summer is now looking like it will be rectified this summer. But aside incomings, the club is also working on outgoing players. To this end, Arsenal have today offically completed the transfer for former Arsenal under 19 captain Isaac Hayden to Newcastle United who will be playing in the Championship next season.
News had broke two weeks ago that Newcastle United were talking to Arsenal to sign Isaace Hayden on loan but the official announce from Newcastle confirms the player has signed a permanent 5 years deal with the club.
The 21 year old is naturally a centre back but has played mainly as a defensive midfielder for Arsenal at both youth level and on the two occassions he has played for the first team. He can also be deployed as a right back or left back. He has represented England up to under 21 level.
He was one of the most highly rated youngsters at Arsenal until his departure. As a matter of fact, watchers of under 21s are surprised that Arsenal have let the player go but considering the calibre of players in his preferred positions, I think it makes sense that Arsenal have sold him.
Having completed his move to Newcastle, the lanky 6 feet 2 inches tall midfielder has revealed his delight at completing the move.
He said: “Newcastle is a massive football club and to be given the opportunity to come here and progress my career is fantastic. I needed to move on and so when Newcastle came in for me I jumped at the chance. I am still young but I want to get as many games under my belt as I can and help the team bounce back to the Premier League.”
SPeaking on the deal, Rafa Bentize was quoted as saying; “We continue with our plan to bring in players who are hungry to succeed and prove themselves, which Isaac really is.”
“He is also a player who can play in different positions, which is very useful. Isaac is a young, strong English player with fantastic potential but also with some experience already of the Championship. We welcome him to the club.”
