Ex-Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson does not think that Alexis Sanchez will be at the club at the start of next season, as he aims to win the “big trophies”. Furthermore, Robson also pointed out that Sanchez seems to be getting more irritated with the likes of Aaron Ramsey.
Sanchez is yet to sign a new contract with Arsenal and there are growing fears the 28-year-old could depart the club.
The attacker’s attitude on the pitch has been strange in recent weeks too as he stormed down the tunnel without hesitation after drawing 3-3 to Bournemouth and then slumped to the floor with his coat over his head after being taken off during the 4-0 drubbing of Swansea City.
Robson, who played for Arsenal from 1981 to 1987, thinks that the Chilean might want to leave the club in the summer
“I’ve noticed in the last few weeks that there’s something not quite right about Alexis Sanchez and his relationship with one or two other players, particularly Aaron Ramsey,” Robson said to ESPN FC.
“Whenever the ball is given away, those two have a little argument with each other and Alexis Sanchez, like so many players who are head and shoulders above everybody else, start to get that big ego and start to get upset with those things, they start to believe that they should be getting better support from those types of players and they might be better off somewhere else.
“I can just sense that with Alexis Sanchez at the moment. He’s playing brilliantly, he’s Arsenal’s best player but I don’t think he’ll be at Arsenal come the start of next season. I think he wants to win the big trophies, and they may take him somewhere else.”
Sanchez is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League this season with 14, alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa, but his happiness on the pitch has not been clear for a while now.
As long as his contract dispute carries on, more and more speculation over his future will continue in the press.
