Now that Old Trafford giant Manchester United have given the number 8 shirt to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for next season, meaning that new manager Jose Mourinho looks set to offload Juan Mata for the second time.
Spain winger Juan Mata was Chelsea’s Player of the Year for two straight years before current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho returned, and instantly handed promotion to Brazilian youngster Oscar ahead of Juan Mata.
The Portuguese tactician has now been saddled with the responsibility to mould the Manchester United squad to his taste, and Mata once again looks set to lose out,as his Jersey number has been handed out to the big Swede Zlatan.
With Henrikh Mkhitaryan also arriving old trafford to bolster the attack, Juan Mata looks likely to lose out once again under Jose.
Arsene Wenger was in the running to sign Armenian international Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund, before he chose to join Manchester United, and Wenger would now have to search elsewhere.
The former Chelsea attacker has proven times without number that he can be a creative force, helping the Blues to Champions League and Europa League success.
After Wenger failed to sign him back in 2011 before he joined rivals Chelsea, the Gunners could now have the opportunity to sign their former target, and strengthen the attacking options for next season, although his asking price is not yet known.
