Arséne Wenger saw Joel Campbell depart the Emirates – albeit on a season-long loan – for Sporting Lisbon last week and now, the Arsene manager could be allowing another of the club’s promising players join Bayern Munich on a temporary basis.
Sky Germany are carrying a report on Tuesday morning that Serge Gnabry is on the verge of signing for Bayern before Wednesday’s transfer deadline. Gnabry helped the Germany U-23 side reach the final at the Rio Olympics and that sparked rumours of a move away from Arsenal, almost all the Bundesliga outfits interested in the player.
Several European sides have been linked with moves for Gnabry and it was believed he could pen an extension to his contract, which expires in June, before leaving for the Bundesliga on loan.
That, however, appears not to be the case as Sky Germany are saying Gnabry is off to Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern – who will in turn loan the attacker to Werder Bremen.
Sky [SkySportsNewsHD] shared the news on Twitter: “Nach unseren Infos steht Serge Gnabry (21) vor einem Wechsel von Arsenal zu Bayern München #skyTransfer #ssnhd.
“Gnabry sol direkt an Werder Bremen verliehen werden. #skyTransfer #ssnhd.”
The transfer seems like a blow for Arsenal, who would have preferred to loan him directly to Werder Bremen.
