Another ex-Arsenal star has also made his voice heard as regards the Gunners’ transfer activities. This time around, it’s from Africa.
Former Arsenal fans favourite, Nwankwo Kanu, has encouraged Arséne Wenger to invest in some more signings despite the imminent arrival of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.
Arsenal appear to have completed the deals for Mustafi and Perez, with the former expected to help shore up the Gunners rearguard, while the latter should rival Olivier Giroud for a starting spot in the team.
However, Kanu – an ex-Nigerian international – has said the Arsenal boss needs to loosen the purse strings the more due to the nature of the transfer market. The lanky ex-footballer said spending big will help Arsenal win trophies.
Kanu spoke to Underthecosh during a stopover on his way to Ontario, where the Kanu Soccer Academy has been holding an International Soccer Camp since the start of the month. The Nigerian also reserved praises for Wenger for his policy of mixing youth players with seasoned ones.
“Sometimes in life you have to take risks and buy”, Kanu said.
“I’m an Arsenal fan now and I want us to win trophies, the more we can spend the more we can get quality players which will help us out.”
