With less than a fortnight to go before this summer transfer window comes to a halt, a host of Premier League top sides are in action and Arsenal is one of those team looking to bring in players.
The Gunners are short of options in both defence and striker position and boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly promised the Arsenal supporters a defender will be brought in before the end of the window. The French boss stated yesterday that Arsenal are ready to spend in the transfer window as long as it is done in the right way.
Reports making the rounds now suggest the North Londoners are on the verge of completing a deal for Valencia defence ace Shkodran Mustafi, who is reportedly Arsenal’s number one transfer target. The transfer is expected to be done for £26m and Mustafi will fly into London on Monday to sign for the Gunners, as per reports.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have also contacted Atletico Madrid regarding the availability of their defender Jose Gimenez. The Gunners do not want to leave any stone unturned and have made Gimenez an alternative, should the Mustafi deal fall through. Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer is also one of Arsenal’s alternatives.
Wenger could also finally land long-term target Julian Draxler, with indications Wolfsburg are open to letting the Germany international leave after the former Schalke 04 star told them he wants to move on as the Bundesliga outfit will not be competing in this season’s Champions League.
Finally, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is still being touted to make a transfer to the Emirates, as Wenger wants to sign the bulky forward to challenge Olivier Giroud in the striker position.
