The Gunners commenced the summer transfer window with great promise. The £30million signing of Swiss international Granit Xhaka got the fans happy but since then it has all gone a bit quiet.
Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger needs to move fast and complete couple of more transfers this summer, allowing the squad to train together ahead of the new season. The sstriking position needs fast reinforcement.
According to The Sun last night, Arsene Wenger has discussed with the agents of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and French international striker Alexander Lacazette.
It is believed that Everton are demanding around £65million for the Belgium international striker, although The Sun claim the Toffees may accept bids in excess of £40million if the player pushes to leave the club, considering his hunger for Champions league football.
According to reports on Fresh Football from a source close to Everton, the news is not true, and the Goodison club will sell for nothing less than £65million.
Some fans believe 23 year old Lukaku if he realise his potential, £60million might actually not be too bad of a deal. The big striker’s poor first touch might be an issue, but he has enough time to work on that.
Also eyed by Wenger is Alexandre Lacazette, who is also fairly young, 25, but his price tag is also on the high side, with this French club Lyon reportedly demanding about £45million. He scored an impressive 21 league goals last season for Lyon, but that was in the French Ligue 1 where the defenders aren’t that convincing.
I am of the opinion that Lacazette is the most likely signing of the two for the Gunners, as he is more like Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, the striker Arsene Wenger tried to sign earlier this summer.
