Arsenal Transfer Update: Perez, Mustafi Complete Medicals, Griezmann Rejected Gunners Move

According to The Sun on Sunday, Arsenal had their approach for Antoine Griezmann knocked back earlier this summer, as the French attacker told Arséne Wenger he had no desire to leave the Spanish La Liga, where he has become a pivotal player for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Wenger and Griezmann were said to have discussed about the possibility of a move to the Emirates prior to the European Championships, but the player turned down the move.

Arsenal, however, remain interested in Griezmann – who has an £85.5m release clause – and could launch a move for him in future.

The Sun on Sunday are also claiming Arsenal have been joined by Manchester United in the hunt of Nottingham Forest sensation, Oliver Burke.

But the two Premier League sides also face competition from several European giants, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona – who have sent scouts to watch Burke in action.

The 19-year old Scot caught the eye with his impressive displays in the Championship last term and now, United are said to be frontrunners for his signature.

Perez, Mustafi Pass Medicals.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has also confirmed Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi have passed their medicals and will soon complete their moves to the Emirates.

Wenger, who saw his side romp to a 3-1 victory against Watford on Saturday, said in his post-match press conference medical tests have been completed and the deals will now be closed, per Mirror Sport.

“We have bought two players, Mustafi and Perez”, the French boss said.

They’ve both had medicals but we need to complete the paperwork.”

Wenger Believes Arsenal Will Improve.

Arséne Wenger thinks his side still have the room for improvement, as they are still not up to speed, despite thumping Watford.

“I believe we shot ourselves in the foot in the first game [against Liverpool] and were under pressure”, Wenger said.

“We then had two difficult away games, but today I believe we had a good solid performance.

“We had a good cushion at half-time. At the moment we are not completely there physically and could see that in second half.

“Ozil is not physical there completely but what we want from Ozil is assists and goals and I hope he can get that this season, 10 or 15 goals plus the chances he creates.”
