North London club Arsenal has confirmed they have sold 21-year-old Isaac Hayden to relegated Premier league side Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. Hayden has reportedly signed a five-year contract at Newcastle, after a decent loan spell on loan at Championship side Hull City last season.
The versatile player, who can play in both the defence and midfield, departs the london club after just 2 games for the first-team, despite a promising development through the youth ranks that saw him made captain of the Arsenal Under-21 side.
Hayden told Newcastle’s official website,“Newcastle is a massive football club and to be given the opportunity to come here and progress my career is fantastic.”
“Being at Arsenal was a great experience, I learnt a lot there and have a lot to thank them for, but I needed to move on and so when Newcastle came in for me I jumped at the chance.
“I am still young but I want to get as many games under my belt as I can and help the team bounce back to the Premier League.”
The youngster becomes the Fourth player to leave Arsenal this summer after the releases of veterans Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky. Goal Keeper Wojciech Szczesny could also join that list, as he is believed to be on his way back to rejoin Roma next season.
The Poland international goal keeper Wojciech Szczesny joined the Roma on loan last season, becoming the first choice goal keeper. It has since remained uncertain what the future holds for the 26-year-old, but according to the Mail, Serie A club Roma are keen to bring him back for another spell at the Italian club.
Yesterday, the Italian capital club unveiled new signing Allison, the goal keeper is believed to be a possible replacement for Arsenal’s shot stopper Szczesny.
