In a news that will surely shock the footballing world, Arsenal are said to have triggered the release clause of Riyad Mahrez and the player is only a matter of days away from been announced as the latest Arsenal signing. The Gunners have so far signed two players in Granit Xhaka and Japanese international Takuma Asano but Wenger is still said to be interested in bringing in 2-3 more players.
To this end, Wenger has mandated that the release clause of Riyad Mahrez which is put at £30 million be triggered. This is coming weeks after reports first emerged that Arsenal have been talking to the agents of Riyad Mahrez. The reports claim Arsenal are sure they can sign Mahrez and that the Algerian is not merely using Arsenal in order to get a new deal with Leicester like Vardy did.
According to the report, the Algerian will sign a 5 years contract with Arsenal and will be put on a wage package of £120,000 a week which makes him tied as fourth highest earner at Arsenal, behind Mesut Ozil £160,000 a week, Sanchez £155,000 a week, Theo Walcott £140,000 a week and tied with Olivier Giroud.
Should Mahrez actually join Arsenal, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Theo Walcott who has constantly been faltered to decieve whenever he has played for us.
