Arsenal’s Spanish Twitter account has reportedly followed Deportivo La Coruna forward Lucas Perez, as the player’s transfer to Arsenal nears completion.
Perez, 27, is set to join the Gunners after fighting off competition from Everton, and Deportivo have now agreed a £17m transfer fee for the striker to move to North London.
With reports claiming Perez had his medicals in London yesterday, the Spanish forward has one new follower on Twitter. Arsenal Spanish Twitter page clearly announced the impending arrival of Perez by following the striker a bit too early.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arséne Wenger has hailed Perez, saying the forward is not a panic buy.
“Look at my face, is it the face of somebody who does a panic buy?”, the Arsenal manager said.
“It looks like it will be frenetic for me in the last three days. Everybody has sat on their pounds until now. We know they will all splash out now. I expect the next three days to be very, very busy.
“Perez is a late developer, he played in a different position. He moved centrally in a successful way. I think he has good link-up qualities, good quality of receptions, good finishing qualities. Let’s see if we can finish the job.”
