Jordan Pickford has spent the minority of his career with Sunderland out on loan, last campaign making 24 Championship appearances for the Lads, in which he kept an impressive 13 clean sheets.

This campaign, through the 22 year old has only managed twice clean sheet in 16 English Premier League appearances. He‘s saved 27 goals in that time.

Sunderland look as if they’re set for another relegation battle come May, if not sooner.

Therefore, despite his deal with Sunderland running out in 2020, Arsenal are apparently looking at him. Although he’s not the only ‘keeper the media are claiming we’re keeping an eye on, leading me to suspect that David Ospina or Wojciech Szczesny is off in the summer. Hopefully, it’s the first of the two. No offence, Dave.

Is Pickford any better than the shot-stoppers we have? I don’t think so. In fact, although I could be wrong, I’m much more inclined to believe he wants to leave the Black Cats, should they get relegated, and word’s been put out. I’d be surprised if we were legitimately interested.
